Lieu has worked in various fabrication shops throughout Virginia.

Beginning In 1978 Lieu joined Union Iron works as a shop foreman.  In this position, Lieu supervised the fabrication shop and field crews.  Lieu worked for Union Iron Works for 13 years.

From 1992 to March of 1995, Lieu increased his knowledge of the steel industry by working as shop foreman for Creative Iron Works and R&D Metal Fabricators and also performed layout, fitter and welder duties for Arrow Metal Products, Herndon Iron Works and Can Am Steel.

Lieu along with Leonard Gavor and Kenn Herrington founded Alliance Steel & Fabrication in 1995.

Lieu is currently a Vice President and Shop Foreman for Alliance Steel.  In this role he has primary responsibilities for:
